MT. KILIMANJARO CLIMBING
Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest Mountain in Africa at 5,896 m above sea level. It’s located at the north /Eastern tip of   Tanzania. For adventurous, a climb of Mt.Kilimanjaro is a must taking you through the mists of equatorial jungle to reach the snows and breathtaking views from the summit.

Best months for trek Mt Kilimanjaro
The  best months for climbing  Mt.Kilimanjaro are January, February, and September since they are the warmest months and almost clear of clouds. , though one could easily succeed throughout the year.

April and early May could get heavy rain or snow, but is good if you want a quiet clear mountain.
Also great are June through August (though colder), and November/December (could be wetter).

kiliThrough September and October it gets steadily warmer. October is particularly good if you want little or no rain, mild weather and few people on the mountain.
January through March are the warmest months, almost clear of clouds safe for a few brief rain showers, followed by the main rainy season during April & May. The temperatures will still be warm, but massive clouds will block visibility, while dropping snow on the summit and heavy rain on the lower slopes

Recommended Mountain clothing

  • Warm, windproof jacket and over trousers

  • Walking trousers, shirts and pullover

  • Walking socks

  • Good comfortable walking boots

  • Training shoes ( for evening)

  • Sun hat

  • Scarf

Recommended Mountain equipments

  • Good warm sleeping bag

  • Water purification tablets/ solution ( and filter)

  • Wash kit and towel- toilet paper

  • First aid kit (including blister plasters, headache tablets, sun cream, lip salve, personal medication)

  • Torch

  • Sun glasses

  • Walking pole(s)

  • Rescue blanket

  • Emergency whistle

It is advisable to pack your clothing and equipment into a waterproof rucksack or duffel bag for porters to carry. Also its good to have a small day sack to carry your raincoat, camera, packed lunch and energy snacks and items of personal nature.

TEA-MTCT-KMAR-7 DAYS KILIMANJARO VIA MARANGU ROUTE

kiliDay 1: Nairobi – Arusha
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel and thereafter, depart for Arusha via the Namanga border town for immigration formalities arriving in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon organizing any gear you require for the trek. Overnight at your Arusha Hotel.

Day 2: Arusha – Mandara
Proceed to Moshi after breakfast, the on to the Marangu park gate, the set off point for your three hour hike to Mandara Hut in which you cover 9 km. Here, we are at 2,774m above sea level on your first overnight on Kilimanjaro

Day 3: Mandara – Horombo
Begin your trek to Horombo hut in an average hiking time of 8 hours, lunch enroute. In clear weather Mawenzi and kibo peaks can be seen. Dinner and overnight at the Hut, altitude 3,761m.

Day 4: Horombo – Kibo
After breakfast, hike 13 km to kibo hut, 4,732m above sea level in an average hiking time of 6 hours. You will now encounter spectacular mountain vegetation like lobelia, giant cactus and groundsel. Dinner and overnight at Kibo hut.

Day 5: Kibo - Uhuru peak – Horombo via the Gilman’s point.
Wake up at 0200hrs for a pre-down attempt of the summit. It takes 5 hours to Gilman’s point 5,681m above sea level. From Gilman’s it takes 1 hour to the summit Uhuru peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,896 m above sea level. Descend to Horombo hut for overnight.

Day 6: Horombo – Arusha
After breakfast, descend to the Marangu gate via Mandara. You will be transferred to your Arusha Hotel for overnight

Day 7: Arusha – Nairobi
After breakfast, depart for Nairobi on the morning or afternoon

TEA-MTCT-KMACH-8 DAYS KILIMANJARO VIA MACHAME ROUTE

kiliDay 1: Nairobi – Arusha
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel and thereafter, depart for Arusha via the Namanga border town for immigration formalities arriving in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon organizing any gear you require for the trek. Overnight at your Arusha Hotel.

Day 2: Arusha – machame
An early start for Kilimanjaro National park. Once we reach there park gate we will proceed directly to Machame hut campsite in an average hiking time of 6 hours for meals and overnight in tents. The altitude here is 3,100m above sea level.

Day 3: Machame – Shira
After breakfast, hike to shira hut. The trek takes 4 hours approximately via  the rain forest pas the valley and a steep rocky ridge ending westward at a river gorge. You will have a rest, dinner and overnight at shira hut campsite, 3,685 m above sea level.

Day 4: Shira - Barranco
 From Shira, hike to Barranco hut, in an average hiking time of 6 hours. We will by- pass the lava tower and past the second junction which brings us to the arrow glacier, altitude 4,876m. We descend to Baranco hut campsite for our third overnight on Kilimanjaro.

Day 5: Barranco – Barafu
After breakfast, we leave barranco and continue to the Karanga valley and the junction, which connects with the mweka trail. We hike to Barafu hut where we set up camp. We will have walked for about 8 hours. Dinner and overnight at the hut campsite, altitude 4,600m with the possibility of sighting both mawenzi and kibo.

kiliDay 6: Barafu – mweka via Stella point and Uhuru peak
We rise early in the morning and head for Stella point altitude 5,745m above sea level on our way to the summit Uhuru peak that is 5,896 m. This part of the hike takes about 6 hours. From the summit to we descend to Mweka hut campsite, 23,100m above sea level. This part of the descend takes about 5 hours. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Mweka – Arusha
After breakfast, we descend to the Mweka park gate in an average hiking time of 4 hours and then drive back to Arusha for an overnight.

Day 8: Arusha - Nairobi
Depart for Nairobi either in the morning or in the afternoon.
