MAJESTIC KILI AND NORTHERN FRONTIER ESCAPE

This is the best adventure camping safari that will take you to the slopes of Kilimanjaro with great views of this majestic Mountain, the jumbo elephants and other plain game. Through the Great rift valley to  Lake Nakuru, the world largest spectacle of birds  and sanctuary for the white rhino and the rothchild giraffe. Lake Bogoria a shallow soda lake, a home to a large number of birds and the rare lesser Kudu, hot springs and  geysers. Then to Baringo one of the fresh water lakes in the Rift valley and the  home land of the smallest tribe of Kenya “Jemps” who are honey gatherers. Views of Mt.Kenya peaks and to northern Kenya for rare animals and Samburu tribe.

TEA-MKNF-8 DAYS NAIROBI-AMBOSELI- NAKURU-BARINGO-MT. KENYA

Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli.
kilimanjaroEarly morning breakfast will be followed by departure for Amboseli National park via the scenic Athi plains to arrive in time for lunch. After lunch, have an afternoon game viewing session with your guide in this park which lies within the shadow of the mighty Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest Mountain. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

 Day 2: Amboseli
 After breakfast, have an early morning game drive that is rewarded by magnificent views of Mt Kilimanjaro with its snowcapped summit appearing pink in the rising sun. Amboseli is known for its abundance of Elephants as well as Hippopotamus which can be seen in the swamp grounds whose water source is Mt.Kilimanjaro. Giraffe, Lion, leopard, buffalo and Black Rhino can be spotted as well. Return to the Lodge for lunch. After lunch, an extensive game drive is followed by dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Amboseli – Lake Nakuru
Early morning pre-breakfast game drive. After breakfast depart Amboseli for Lake Nakuru via Nairobi for lunch.  On arrival, enjoy an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park which has a fantastic array of bird life including millions of flamingos, white pelicans, Marabou stock and other water birds that breed in alkaline waters. Other plain games that can be seen here include the Cape buffalo, White Rhino, Rothschild giraffe and variety of antelopes. A visit to the baboon cliff offers a scenic view of the lake below, surrounded by a vast tract of euphorbia and acacia forest. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge

Day 4: 03/01/07: Lake Nakuru – Lake Baringo/Bogoria
After an early breakfast, proceed to Lake Baringo for an hour’s boat ride which enables you to see hippos at close range and the bird life that inhabits this lake as over 350 species of birds have been recorded here including some that conform to a migratory pattern, as well as crocodiles and Egyptian gees which migrate all the way from western cheetahEurope. At an extra cost, you can have a short excursion to the Island to see the Njemp village (local tribe) and dancing. Thereafter depart for Lake Bogoria, a shallow soda lake hosting thousands of pink flamingos, a large number of other birds and the lesser kudu. Scalding hot springs and geysers at the southern end of the lake spurt and steam their alkaline waters thus presenting a rare scenic beauty. The rest of the meals at the lodge.

Day 5: Lake Bogoria – Samburu
After breakfast, depart for Samburu Game Reserve via Thompson falls which are named after Joseph Thompson, one of the first European explorers who walked from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the 1880’s. You will have a lunch break and Game drive enroute to the Lodge.

Day 6: Samburu
Morning and afternoon game viewing sessions tracking the rare drought resistant animal species which can only be seen north of the equator. These are; the reticulated giraffe, gravy’s zebra, the gerenuk or giraffe gazelle, beisa Oryx and the blue shanked Somali Ostrich. The Ewaso Nyiro River traverses this park, its source being the Aberdare mt.kenyaranges.  You will have  lunch and leisure break in the mid afternoon whereby you can visit the nearby local village to see and learn more about the northern people of Kenya who has a rich and colorful heritage. Return to the Lodge in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Samburu – Mt.Kenya
After breakfast, leave Samburu for Mt. Kenya region arriving in time for lunch. After lunch, visit the Mau Mau caves where Kenyan freedom fighters used to hide from the British troops during the struggle for independence. In the evening, enjoy the unique experience of a night on the slopes of Mount Kenya. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Day 8: Mt. Kenya – Nairobi
After breakfast, drive south via the biggest open air market in East and central Africa (Karatina) and very pleasant countryside to arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon.
